Dr Leslie Ang is a senior consultant Ophthalmologist, Vitreoretinal surgeon and the Medical Director at Shinagawa Eye Centre, Singapore.
Dr Ang completed his undergraduate medical training at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine of the National University of Singapore where he also received the gold medal and book prize in Ophthalmology. He completed his specialty training with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute in Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He has further subspecialised in his keen area of interest of retina conditions, and is both a medical and surgical retina specialist.
Dr Ang is one of the few local ophthalmologists to have completed 2 separate international fellowships in vitreoretinal surgery, both from the Royal Perth Hospital in Perth, and the prestigious Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.
During his fellowships, Dr Ang also had the privilege of working with numerous internationally recognised retinal surgeons, and has gained vast experience operating on complex retinal cases. Additionally, Dr Ang has been managing a wide variety of medical retinal conditions during his years as a consultant in Singapore as well as during his fellowships.

Prior to joining the private sector, Dr Ang also held multiple administrative positions in public institutions.
He was part of the hospital Mortality & Morbidity Audit committee. He also served as an outspoken advocate for patient safety, not least by being part of both the hospital Patient Safety Committee as well as a member of the Patient Safety work group.
But his main passion was in medical education and tutoring the younger generation of doctors and was a clinical tutor for both schools of medicine in the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University.
He also served as an MBBS examiner for the National University of Singapore and was awarded the Dean’s Excellence Award, which recognises the top educators and their contributions.
Outside of work, Dr Ang is a proud father to his two young children and often serves as their dedicated driver. He was an avid sportsman in his schooling days and still enjoys jogging and playing soccer or a round of tennis.
